It looks that Alberta is making people who don't pay their speeding tickets - or else they don't get GST-rebate and Income Tax refunds. It sounds as if Edmontonians are the first ones to be subjected to this system.
At this first glance, I like this new system. Political Parties talk about "getting tough on crime" all of the time, but tend to ignore small infractions (well, it is reasonable). If a person gets caught speeding they should pay the fine, simple as that.
But with this being said, I think that there should be some thought in adopting the Finnish speeding fine system.
